CELEBRATION

Once dry, your art is ready to be shipped. Careful packaging ensures your art arrives safely and ready to hang.

Celebrate your story!

My family and I are fortunate to have two Jessica Cook originals. One hangs in my older daughter’s house while the other hangs in my office. Each painting is quite different from the other yet both demonstrate Jessica’s talent with colors and images.

How much do commissioned paintings cost?

Because of the custom nature of commissions, pricing is based on the number of figures, the complexity, and size. Shipping is charged separately.

Please get in touch to get a quote.

How long does it take for my commission to be created?

Timing can vary on complexity of the painting. During our initial conversation, I will do my best to provide you with a timeline so you know exactly what to expect. Usually, at least 2-3 weeks, however, heavy oil paintings require more time to dry before they're ready to be carefully packaged and shipped.

What do you need for a commissioned painting?

We’ll discuss your idea for the painting and the necessary references. For portraits, I prefer to sketch from life and take my own reference photos. I can travel; please contact me to discuss details. I do work from photos for posthumous portraits, but not all photos are good references. Ideally, the photo has contrasting lighting and is sharp in resolution. I’m happy to review your photos and suggest what may work for a painting.

Should I frame the painting?

Portraits often look more complete and elegant when framed. However, I can create the painting on fine gallery wrapped cotton canvas, and paint the sides for a finished look that is ready to hang without framing. I do recommend framing works on paper in order to protect them from dust and the regular wear and tear, and keep it looking vibrant for years to come.

I'm happy to help coordinate framing as needed.

Should I varnish the painting?

Your commission comes varnished with a high-quality varnish, Gamvar.

Watercolors on paper are not varnished but should be framed under UV-protective glass.

How will the painting be shipped?

I generally use UPS for shipping paintings. I'll provide you with tracking information when the item ships. Please note that shipping is an additional fee.
